How to Create More Privacy in My Oddly Shaped Bedroom Without a Door?

I'm trying to improve the privacy in my bedroom, which doubles as my new work-from-home office. The issue is that my room is located on the second floor of an old farmhouse and has an awkwardly shaped door frame that's large and semi-rhombus rather than the typical rectangle. My parents aren't keen on buying or installing a proper door, but I've been using sheets pinned to the wall as a curtain, which isn't quite cutting it. I'm looking for ideas that could help make my room more soundproof and private, especially for my work calls. Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives that feel more door-like, such as heavy curtains or other creative solutions?

Have you considered a sliding barn door? They could work well given your oddly shaped frame and won't take up much space when opened. If you don't have room for a full barn door to slide, bi-fold ones can also fit if your width is tight! You can even look into thick curtains designed specifically for room dividers that could add some style while providing the privacy you need.

That's a great point! The bi-fold option could be a perfect fix if space is limited.

You might want to think about a solid core door if you're looking for soundproofing. Heavy curtains can help, but they just won't offer the same privacy. If you're handy, modifying a door slab could be doable if your parents agree to it.

Honestly, a good carpenter could help you customize a solid core door to fit that rhombus opening perfectly. It wouldn't be too difficult, and it would significantly enhance your privacy. Just make sure to get the edges sealed for a clean finish. Plus, it could help with sound too!
