Hey everyone! I'm about 4'9" tall and really want to tackle my own landscaping to save some cash. I've got a 50x20 yard that I'd like to fill with rocks and create some steps, but I'm pretty limited on tools—just a shovel and rake at my disposal. I was thinking about hiring someone, but they quoted me $10,000 which seems really steep to me. Is that a typical cost for rocks and labor? But realistically, can I actually do this myself? How challenging is it?

It's definitely possible to do it yourself, but it will take time. If you can, share some photos of your yard and maybe a sketch of your plan. It’ll help get better advice tailored to your project.
I once laid a 350 sqft flagstone patio and moved about 50k lbs of material. Trust me, the weight adds up quickly! Before diving in, try to estimate how much weight you’ll need to handle and see if you believe you can manage it on your own.
Start prepping by doing your homework! The more you read, ask questions, and watch videos, the easier it'll be when you actually start. You might find it's a bit more than you want to tackle alone or realize it's an achievable challenge!
