I was digging about 30cm away from my Salix tree and accidentally cut through a couple of its roots that were roughly 1cm thick. I've covered them back up with soil, but I'm worried—did I just kill my tree?

You're fine! These trees are tough. In fact, you could stick a twig in the ground and it might grow roots too. You've probably just given your tree a little adventure!
Nah, you're good! Salix trees are pretty resilient, and they can bounce back from a little root damage. Don't stress too much about it.
