Hey everyone! I've recently started getting into houseplants and I've propagated a monstera deliciosa into several smaller plants. I'm really excited about my first date tomorrow with a girl I met on a dating app, and I want to make a great impression. I know that flowers are usually the go-to gift on a date, but I'm considering giving her a top cutting from my monstera instead. I'm not sure if she's a plant person, and I'm worried it might come off as weird or too much pressure. I'd love to know, if a guy did this on a first date, would you find it sweet and memorable, or kind of awkward?

From a plant lover's perspective, I think it's a really cute idea! If she appreciates plants, a monstera cutting could actually be a memorable gift. Just make sure to gauge her interest in plants before making the leap. The first date can be tricky, and you don't want to put her in a spot where she feels pressured to care for something she didn't ask for. Maybe give her flowers this time and save the cutting for later?
If she's a plant person, it could win her over! But stick with flowers for the first date to keep it simple.
I totally would appreciate it! But it really depends on the person. If she’s into plants, it’d be a hit. If not, you might want to consider flowers first and then see if you can surprise her with the cutting later!
Absolutely! Discover her interests first, and you can plan the plant surprise later.
Yes! If she reacts positively, then the monstera would be a great next step!
Honestly, I think a lot of people might feel overwhelmed by receiving a plant on a first date. It could come across as a chore rather than a gift, especially if she’s not into plants. Maybe flowers are a better option, and you can always ask about her plant preferences for future dates!
Yeah, giving a plant can sometimes feel like handing over extra responsibilities. Flowers are a classic for a reason!
Very true! It’s all about making her comfortable on the first date.

Exactly! A safe bet is definitely flowers for now. You can always save the monstera for when you know her better.
