Creative Fence Solutions Around Trees?

Asked By TreeHugger99 On

I'm looking for some creative ideas to put a fence between my yard and my neighbor's, while dealing with two large pine trees along the property line. One tree has a diameter of about 50 inches and the other one is around 36 inches. They are roughly 5 feet apart, and since both are healthy and will remain standing (no permit for removal), I need to figure out a way to make the fence work. I'm considering options that wouldn't compromise the trees or take up too much of our space. Any suggestions on how I can effectively enclose the back property lines without cutting into either yard too much?

You could try jogging the fence around the trees to keep it straight along the property line. Basically, use some short sections that bend around the trunks of each tree. This way, you won't have to sacrifice too much space, and the fence will look good while preserving the trees!

Honestly, it's just 16 square feet! You're doing the right thing by keeping those trees. It's a small sacrifice for the sake of preserving their beauty and enhancing your property value. Focus on how much better your yard will look with the trees instead of worrying about a tiny loss of lawn.

Have you thought about just running the fence down the middle between the trees? You could go around one tree on your side and then the other on your neighbor's side. That way, you maintain the proper line while keeping everything symmetrical. It might help to sketch it out and visualize it better!

Yeah, I think a diagram would really help! It'll make it clearer to see how the fence would fit with the trees and give you a solid plan.
