Can I Place Planters with Drainage Holes on My Wooden Deck Without Causing Damage?

I recently relocated from a dry desert to the humid Pacific Northwest and have some planters with drainage holes that I want to put on my wooden deck. I'm concerned that any water draining out of the pots might sit on the deck and lead to wood rot. Should I be putting something under the planters, like trays, to prevent this? Is rot a real concern?

If you're worried about rot, it's a good idea to elevate your planters a bit. You can use spacers like small bricks or even pieces of wood to lift them off the deck. This way, any excess water can drain without pooling on the wood.

What kind of spacers do you usually use? Can I just grab anything I have at home, or do they need to be something specific?
