I bought my house last year, and I've discovered some serious issues with the tiled shower that the previous owners installed. The first thing I noticed was the grout at the shower's corner cracking, and they used grout instead of caulk, which I've learned is a problem. In the last couple of weeks, I've noticed that the tile base under the shower door is actually moving away from the shower, creating a gap that lets water leak underneath. We've stopped using the shower because I'm worried about further damage. Since we can't afford to hire someone for the repairs, I'm looking for advice on how to fix this myself. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like the shower wasn't installed correctly. Ideally, corners should be caulked, not grouted. If the base is shifting, you're likely facing some serious issues that need addressing, and just patching it up won’t cut it in the long run. You might need to demo that section or even the whole base and start fresh with proper waterproofing. Good call on stopping use for now; you want to prevent further damage!

So I really have to redo the whole shower?
