Who Should I Hire for Installing a Kitchen Vent Exhaust?

I'm looking to install a new vent exhaust for my kitchen since there's currently no exterior vent at all, and I have to make do with opening windows or using a fan. My home has an Edwardian style, and I'm wondering who would be the best person to contact for this job. I've reached out to some companies, but they've all said my job is too small. Should I hire a handyman, a general contractor, an HVAC specialist, a roofer, or someone else to get quality work done? I'd also prefer to have them install the kitchen hood if that's a good idea. Any recommendations?

If your kitchen range is against an exterior wall, you might just be able to DIY this part of the installation. Running a duct through the wall can be pretty straightforward, depending on your skills. But if it’s not on an exterior wall, definitely get someone experienced involved.

You might also want to consider an HVAC pro, particularly if your kitchen range isn't against an exterior wall. They can run the necessary ducts through the attic or walls for you. If you can work with a handyman for the hood and HVAC for the vent, that might be a good combo.

I think a handyman is a solid choice for installing both the kitchen hood and the vent. Just make sure they're experienced with venting systems, especially if you’ll be exhausting through the roof. It’s crucial to ensure everything is properly sealed to avoid leaks later on.
