What’s This Tube Next to My Kitchen Sink?

Hey everyone! I found a water tube hookup under my kitchen sink and I'm not sure what it's for. I've attached a picture in the comments for reference. Can someone help me understand its purpose? Is it usable?

Looks like it's serving as pressure relief for your sink drain. If you eventually install a garbage disposal, you can remove it and repurpose that spot for a soap dispenser instead!

I think it could also just be a leftover from a soap dispenser setup. It may be missing some parts that you'd need to complete the assembly.

That makes sense! I guess I'll have to check if there's anything else I might need.

That tube is likely for a dishwasher air gap. It helps prevent dirty water from siphoning back into your dishwasher. If you've been hearing gurgling at the end of a wash cycle, that's probably it at work!

Exactly! It's pretty useful for keeping things sanitary. Just make sure it's connected properly.
