Can I Dye a Black Shirt with Acrylic Paint and Conditioner?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to dye a shirt using a mix of acrylic paint, hair conditioner, and warm water. I got this idea from a tutorial, which mentioned that I should use bright colors, but I'm a bit concerned since my shirt is black with white sleeves (like a T-shirt layered over a long sleeve). I'm hoping to create a cybersigilism design on it. Any advice on whether this is a feasible method? Also, just to note, the shirt is 100% cotton. Thanks!

I think you're on thin ice here. Using acrylic paint as a dye likely won't give you the results you want. Hair conditioner might be meant to help the paint coat the fabric or something, but it sounds pretty risky to me. If you're interested, there's a great subreddit called r/tiedye where you can find more info about safe dyeing methods!

It sounds like you might be heading for disappointment. You can't really dye a black shirt, and I suspect acrylic paint is not the right way to go about it. If you're set on trying, I’d love to see the tutorial you’re following. Actual fabric dyes are pretty affordable and tend to work much better!
