Seeking Woodworking Classes in NYC or Jersey City

Hey everyone! I'm living in NYC/Jersey City and I've recently discovered a passion for woodworking. While it's just a hobby for now, I'm eager to find a more structured program beyond a casual workshop. I'd like something that allows me to continue learning and improving my skills over time. The challenge is that I have a full-time job, so I can't commit to a full-time school program. I'm hoping to find classes that fit these criteria:

* Evening or weekend availability
* Access to a woodshop after classes
* Beginner-friendly options in Jersey City or NYC that are well-structured

If anyone has taken woodworking classes or has program recommendations, I'd love to hear your experiences—especially if you started off as a hobbyist looking for more structure! Thanks so much!

If you don’t mind heading to Union City (it's still close to Jersey City and easy to get to NYC), check out The DIY Joint. They offer classes and you can get access to their studio once you complete the initial qualifications. Also, consider looking into maker spaces, which often have woodworking equipment available. I learned a lot on my own with some tools I found on Facebook Marketplace, along with loads of reading and watching YouTube tutorials!

I took a class when they were located on the JC/Hoboken border. It was a solid experience—great tools and informative classes. Their new location is still easily accessible via the Hudson-Bergen light rail.
