I live in a custom 1978 forest home that features beautiful wood elements, including siding, hardwood floors, and windows. Unfortunately, our existing windows, likely Oldach brand, are in various states of disrepair due to defects from the manufacturer. We've gotten quotes from different companies, but they only offer to replace our windows with vinyl or similar materials that don't match the rich chocolate brown of our current wood. I'm really concerned that this change will take away from the unique character of our home. My husband believes that quality wood windows are no longer made or they're too expensive, but I'm not so sure. Can anyone provide advice on options for replacing our windows while preserving the original craftsmanship?

There are definitely companies still producing wood windows. If you dig a little, you should be able to find several options that match your home’s aesthetic. For example, Pella has some great options, including real wood windows that you can customize.
Check out Marvin Windows. They have wood frames that come with aluminum cladding on the outside, which is a great way to maintain that wood look with added durability. Just make sure to review the exterior colors—they might not have exactly what you want.
You can get quality wood windows in the style you prefer, but they tend to be pricier. It might be worth consulting with a high-end remodeler rather than just a standard window company. Some brands, like Anderson (not Renewal), offer great options too.
