Hey fellow gardeners! I'm on a mission to find some pampas grass for my backyard—specifically a sterile cultivar because I really want to avoid any self-seeding chaos. I've been eyeing the Alba or White Feather types, but so far, my Google searches haven't turned up anything useful. If anyone has tips on where to buy sterile pampas grass, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks a lot!

I totally hear you on the sterile pampas grass! I planted some in our garden without realizing what it could mean for the neighborhood (swinger symbolism, ugh!). But in our case, the two colors—pink and white—turned out to be a happy accident, and they don’t seem to spread seeds at all. So even if I can't confirm they’re sterile, no seedlings around is a win, right?
I didn’t find any sterile pampas grass either. But just a thought—have you considered perennial sorghum? If it gets invasive, at least you can eat it! ? The only other plant I can think of that's kind of similar is pendulus sedge, but that one needs a constant water source. I grow amaranth each year—it's lovely and gives that Victorian vibe, but just a heads up, it's an annual!
Thanks for the suggestions! Amaranth porridge brings back memories—it’s a beautiful plant too! I never really thought about growing it myself. Appreciate your help!

Haha, that's so true about the symbolism! ? At least the upside-down pineapples have taken over! Your pink and white mixture sounds beautiful—definitely a happy mistake! Just be careful if you want the sterile ones, trust me, they can be prolific!
