Best Ways to Remove Paint and Grime from Reclaimed Hardware?

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for easy, work-free methods to clean up some hardware I've salvaged from various DIY projects. I recently took apart a painted playground set that my neighbor was getting rid of, and while I've found some great reusable hardware, some parts, especially the washers, are painted and a bit corroded. I've tried using an ultrasonic cleaner with Simple Green, which worked decently for cleaning, and a de-rust bath for the corrosion, but I'm really struggling with the paint removal. I also gave denatured alcohol a shot, but it didn't do the trick quickly enough. I'd love to hear your suggestions or any tricks you might have for making this process easier!

I haven’t tested it myself yet, but I’ve heard using a slow cooker or crockpot with some Dawn dish soap can work wonders for paint removal. The paint just seems to slide right off! Has anyone else tried this?

I have a slow cooker that I use for my wood finishes, so I’m definitely going to give this a shot! Thanks for the tip!
