I've got some metal siding and fascia on my house that has a gap at the bottom. Carpenter bees seem to love this spot and always dig around there. I'm looking for effective ways to seal or block this gap. I thought about using mosquito netting or copper wool, but I'm hoping for some additional ideas from you all! For a quick solution, I’d recommend trying caulk. If the gap is on the larger side though, filling it with spray foam first and then caulking on top of that usually works best and keeps things looking nice.
The best approach is to take down the siding down to the bottom of the gable. Then, you can fill the gap with some lumber, like a thin soffit board, cover it with metal, and use a down-facing J-channel before putting the siding back up into that channel. It's a bit of a project, but it’ll give you a solid, long-lasting fix. Just keep in mind you might have to recut the siding, but you shouldn’t need to buy new panels!
Thanks for the detailed plan! I’m definitely going to look into that. It gives me a solid foundation to start figuring this out.

That sounds like a lot of work, but definitely the neatest solution! If you want something simpler and cheaper, you could make some long wood wedges, caulk them into the gaps; it won’t look as polished, but it's quicker!
