Do I need to turn off the gas when clearing a clogged dryer vent?

Hey everyone! We're having some issues with our gas dryer and suspect that the vent might be clogged. I'm wondering if it's necessary to turn off the gas before we blow out the vent. Also, should we unplug the dryer while doing this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You actually don’t need to turn off the gas for this! Just disconnect the vent from the back of your dryer and clean it out. Just remember to blow the air out the way it normally flows, so you don’t push anything back into the dryer.

I heard differing opinions on that! Someone mentioned turning off the gas, but I didn’t want to risk messing up anything by doing that.
