Ridgid vs DeWalt StealthSonic: Which Shop Vac Should I Choose?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to pick between the Ridgid 12-gallon shop vac and the DeWalt StealthSonic 12-gallon model. I've seen positive reviews for both, but I keep hearing that the DeWalt might have issues with wet pickup or could fail more often. I'm looking for some advice based on your experiences; which vacuum has better suction and durability, especially for handling water? Thanks for any insights you can share!

Alton Industries makes the DeWalt vacuums, while Ridgid is made by Emerson. I’ve got the 6-gallon wall mount model from DeWalt, and I've been impressed with it. I'm planning to get a StealthSonic soon because I can’t stand the loud noise that most shop vacs make—the quiet feature is a huge win for me!

It really depends on what you need. I’m a DIYer who loves pro tools, but for vacuums, I went with the DeWalt because it’s super quiet. My main task is dust collection, and I've heard of users successfully using it to handle water in flooded basements.

I loved the DeWalt, but it broke down on me in five weeks! It’s super quiet, though, which is a plus. I’m tempted to buy another but a bit hesitant after that experience. On the other hand, Ridgid vacuums are great! I have the 3-gallon NXT model, and it works perfectly for me every day. If you're a Costco member, you might want to get the DeWalt from them for their great return policy in case you have any issues.
