I recently handled some fresh black walnuts and ended up with my fingers stained really dark. It's been about 11 hours, and so far, I haven't felt any skin irritation or got sick, but I did inadvertently chew on some of my skin near my nails without realizing my fingers were stained. I read that ingesting even a little Juglone can be harmful and I'm curious about how much is considered a 'small amount'. I'm probably overthinking this, but it's a new topic for me, and I find it fascinating how Juglone protects the plant. Thanks to anyone who responds, and reminder to myself: wear gloves next time!

While there's no clear cut-off for how much Juglone is toxic, the worst effects tend to occur near the tree's dripline. It might be smart to get in touch with a doctor just to play it safe, since exposure can lead to painful reactions and blisters. I found an article that talks about it, which might help ease your mind!

Just read through the article you shared, and it’s super informative. Looks like it's just a waiting game for the stains to fade. Definitely a good idea to consult a doc if anything changes though. Really appreciate your input!
