Hey everyone! I've been having some issues with my Samsung bottom mount fridge/freezer (model srl349mw). After adjusting the temperature, it's started making some loud crackling noises at night and icing up at the bottom. I've been manually clearing the ice, but it keeps coming back! I've tried a few different temperature settings, but nothing seems to work. I also defrosted it, and there was no leakage from the cooling parts at the bottom shelf, but the ice built up again soon after. The fridge is about 11.5 years old, so no warranty coverage anymore. It used to be really noisy, but now it's quieter. I'm not keen on buying a new one unless I have to. Any advice on what I can do next?

It sounds like the drainage tube for defrosting might be frozen. When that happens, the water spills over into your freezer and causes freezing. You might need to do some disassembly to fix it. Basically, you’d have to remove the door and shelves to get to the heater coil, then wrap some copper wire around it to help prevent freezing, or you could buy a new drain tube clip online. Hope that helps!
Definitely check the temperatures you've been setting! I think I saw you mention using -19 degrees? That could be a bit too low, especially if the freezer isn’t full. Maybe try compromising somewhere around -18 or so? Just a thought! And yeah, I also had a Samsung fridge that didn't serve me well. You’re not alone in your frustrations.
