I'm trying to locate the route of my water supply line from the main, but since 811 only marks public lines, I'm stuck. I've reached out to a few private companies for help, but some are asking for a hefty fee while others won't even help because they consider it a small job. Any suggestions?

Haha, maybe get some dowsing rods? Seriously though, if you're looking at private line locates, they can be pricey, and that's the only surefire way to get an accurate reading. But hey, what's got you wanting to find it?
I'm planning to build a shop right where my driveway is now, and I suspect the line runs under a tree and through the driveway.
