Dealing With Mold on My Plant Soil: What’s the Best Approach?

Asked By GreenThumbGuru93 On

I've got some plants living in a gym environment where the humidity fluctuates between 55% to 80%. Recently, I've started noticing what seems to be mold forming on the surface of the soil in some of my pots. I'm concerned about whether this is harmful to my plants or even to people working out nearby. Can anyone suggest a safe and effective way to remove this mold? Thanks for any tips or advice you can share!

A good way to tackle the mold issue is to mix up a solution of 4 parts water to 1 part hydrogen peroxide (3-4%). This should clean the mold up nicely and even provides a boost of oxygen to your plant roots! Just be careful with the amount you use, and it shouldn't harm the plants at all.

Oh dang, thank you! So this won't hurt the plant, right?

Just double checking - you're saying I should do 4:1 peroxide:water? Not the other way around?
