I'm working on a project where I need D20 dice cut in half, or as close to half as possible. I'm curious about what tools and techniques would be best for this job. Ideally, I'd like to use a vice if I'm saw cutting, but I'm open to any suggestions or ideas you might have!

I’d recommend making a jig for cutting. If you have access to a 3D printer, you could whip up a jig and then use a coping saw. It gives you precision and helps avoid any mess while cutting. Just make sure to use a narrow blade for the best results!
Well, if you’re going to 3D print a jig, why not just print half a D20 from the get-go?
If precision is key, a waterjet cutter could do the trick for you! It cuts through just about anything cleanly and would keep your dice intact. You can set up a bunch in a clay matrix and run them through to get perfectly halved D20s. You might need access to a maker space or machine shop for this one though.
That sounds interesting! I’ll check if there’s a maker shop nearby.
You know, instead of slicing up your expensive D20s, you might want to consider 3D printing half D20s instead. This way, you can make as many as you need without wasting any dice. Alternatively, making a mold to cast resin halves could work well too!
Great suggestions! I'll look into 3D printing some halves!

Definitely considering the coping saw route, thanks for the idea!
