Can I Use 5″ Discs with My 2880 Grinder’s Guard?

I'm using a Milwaukee 2880 angle grinder which is rated for both 4.5" and 5" discs. I got it as part of a big bundle from Home Depot, and it only came with one guard. I want to know if the guard that came with the grinder is compatible with both sizes, so can I safely use 5" discs without needing to buy a separate guard? I've been searching for this answer and it's frustratingly hard to find! By the way, I'm looking at getting the Ezarc 5" diamond cutting discs 5-pack from Amazon, which also has a 4.5" option.

You don't need to do anything special—just pop that 5" disc on, and you're set! The guard is designed for it, so no worries there.

Yes, you can use the 5" discs with your grinder! The guard that came with it is made to fit both sizes, so you won’t need anything different. Just attach the 5" disc directly to your grinder and you're good to go!

Thanks for the quick info, Battery Papi! I'll keep this post open in case anyone else has more tips or questions.

Just to clarify, the guard works perfectly for both sizes. I’ve used both without any issues!

The guard is indeed sized to fit a 5" disc, but you can also use a 4.5" disc on it without any problems. No need to buy extra guards; it's all good! ?
