Should I Replant My Seeds If My Peat Pots Are Moldy?

I noticed some mold on my peat pots where I've just planted seeds, but nothing has germinated yet. I'm wondering if it's okay to replant the seeds in different containers. Will the mold affect the seeds? And if replanting is safe, can I use the same soil?

Honestly, peat pots can be a bit of a nightmare. They tend to mold easily, and they aren't the best for seedlings. I've personally stopped using them because of that. Instead, I switched to pots made from spruce fiber and they've worked out great for me!

I hear you! I only learned how bad they were after planting too. Now I'm sticking with better alternatives.

Totally agree! You just have to keep a close eye on the moisture levels.

Mold usually means it's too damp, so you should try to let them dry out a bit. Consider putting them by a window for some sunlight, as that'll help get rid of the mold. Once they dry out, you can cover them again, just be sure to mist the tops lightly while they air out. Your seeds should be fine!

Thanks for the tips! I kept mine too wet after planting, but I've moved them to a sunnier spot now. Do you think the seeds are still good to go?
