Who Can I Call to Help Install a Skylight Shade?

I have a skylight on a 30-degree sloped roof, about 25-30 feet above my bedroom. It's tough to reach, as there are no walls nearby for a ladder, and I'd need a 40-foot ladder to access it. The brightness in the morning is unbearable when I'm trying to sleep, and I currently have a trash bag taped on with a metal rod to cover it. While it works to some extent, it looks terrible and doesn't cover the whole window. I'm looking for advice on who to contact for help with installing a proper shade. I've reached out to a few places, and they mentioned it would cost around $200-$300 just for measurements, which seems unreasonable. I'm not keen on spending thousands on a fancy shade either. Should I look for a handyman for a DIY solution, or should I just accept I need to spend the money on a good install?

I wouldn't advise spending thousands on just a shade. Instead, consider investing in a new skylight that has a built-in solar shade and a remote control. It'll be a lot more convenient! You might want to reach out to a roofer about that.

That’s actually a smart idea! If your roofs are set to be replaced in the next five years, it might be best to wait and replace the skylight then.
