Best Practices for Storing Infrequently Used Dewalt Batteries

Asked By SunnyDaze14 On

I'm a weekend warrior with about 10 Dewalt 20v batteries, but I only use a few of them during the weekends. What's the best way to manage the batteries that aren't getting much action? Should I charge them occasionally, just leave them until I need them, or should I try to rotate through all of them every so often?

For batteries that you're not using often, it's best to charge them to about 80% and then just leave them be. That way, they won't lose too much capacity over time. I also like to keep track of my batteries by numbering them and rotating which ones I use. Keeps everything even!

But how do you measure exactly when you hit 80%? Any tips?
