Hey everyone! I'm looking at this 20V max 20in. Cordless Battery Powered Hedge Trimmer (check it out [here](https://www.walmart.com/ip/WORKPRO-20V-Cordless-Hedge-Trimmer-20-Dual-Action-Blades-Electric-Hedge-Trimmer-with-Battery-and-Charger/889092296?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101075205)). While I know it's mainly meant for trimming bushes and shrubs, I'm wondering if it could also handle weeds in my backyard. I'm not really a fan of bulky lawnmowers; I prefer something lightweight and budget-friendly, ideally under $90. Any thoughts?

A hedge trimmer isn't really the best choice for cutting down weeds. They can be quite heavy, and when bending over to reach weeds, it gets uncomfortable fast. You might want to consider a weed whacker or string trimmer instead. They're designed for low-level cutting and would make your life a lot easier! If you're open to it, a lightweight mower could also be a good option. Check out places like scythesupply.com for some affordable scythes if you're into that sort of thing!

I've had a great experience with a tool like this for about a year now. It's been fantastic for managing my yard, and it’s lightweight too! If you're looking for something easy to use, definitely look at alternatives to the hedge trimmer.

Honestly, using a hedge trimmer for lawn mowing would be tough! A string trimmer with a bush-cutting attachment might suit your needs better. I use a Dewalt model that can handle thick saplings and brush like a champ. Just make sure to wear protective gear since they can kick up debris. It's super effective for clearing out blackberries and similar plants!
