What Are My Options for Fixing a Crumbling Garage Floor?

I've got a bit of a situation with my garage floor – it's crumbling and producing a lot of concrete dust. I use this space not just for parking my car, but also for working on bicycles. I'm considering my options for repairs and I'm open to DIY methods. Would it be okay if I temporarily moved everything out of the garage? I've heard about epoxy floors but it sounds complicated since two of the walls are drywall. Are there better options out there?

A great way to fix the crumbling is to use a diamond grinder to shave off about an eighth of an inch to flatten the surface and expose fresh concrete. You won’t need to use water if you have a dust collector attached to it for cleanup. After that, you can apply the epoxy.

Thanks for the tips! Can I rent a grinder from a home improvement store? Also, is there any prep needed between grinding and applying the epoxy?

One simple solution is to cover the drywall with plastic sheets before you start any work. This way, you can protect the walls while you tackle the floor.

Got it! But I'm also curious about options beyond epoxy.
