I hired a contractor who completely messed up the job, costing me around $5,000 just to fix his mistakes. After I paid him, he vanished, blocked my calls, and his listed address turned out to be a mailbox store. Thankfully, he had an LLC, so I was able to serve court summons to his registered agent and won a default judgment against him since he didn't show up. I did a background check and found that he owns nothing, constantly uses fake addresses, and disappears. I have three years to find him because that's how long I can pursue this, but it's been a year already. Recently, I got a call from another lady who hired him, and just like me, he took $10,000 from her and then ghosted. It seems like he's still stealing money from others. Does anyone have ideas on how to track him down or stop him?

Have you thought about getting a new phone number and using a voice changer? You could call him up about another job and see if he bites, maybe even get him to meet you in person.
One approach could be to name and shame him! Post about him on any relevant website, community site, or social media like Facebook or Nextdoor where people share these experiences.
You might consider hiring a private investigator. Also, you could chat with the lady who called you, maybe you two could work together to split the costs of tracking him down.
Keep me posted on what you find out, because I’m dealing with a similar situation and feel like I've hit a wall. But it’s true, if he really doesn’t have any money, it might not be worth chasing.
