I'm currently using SketchUp for my modeling projects but I'm looking for alternatives since I don't want to keep paying a subscription. What software do you recommend for 3D modeling?

Have you considered using Fusion 360? They offer a free hobbyist license, which is great if you're just starting out or working on personal projects. It's pretty powerful and comes with features like automatic plans and a Bill of Materials table. Plus, it's great for various modeling tasks!

If you're looking for a free version of SketchUp, I would suggest sticking with it if it's meeting your needs. The free version is pretty solid for basic projects. But if you're into woodworking and 3D printing, OnShape might be worth checking out—it's free, online, and super accessible! You just need to keep in mind that your projects will be public.

Blender is also a fantastic option! It's completely free and incredibly versatile. It can be a bit tricky to learn at first, especially for CNC work, but there are tons of tutorials out there that can help you get started. I'd be happy to share some links to tutorials that really helped me out!
