I'm looking to upgrade from my old vintage LN 60 1/2 block plane. While it works decently, the mouth has a crack and the adjustment loosens up during use. I already own an LN 60 1/2 R, but I find it uncomfortable to hold because of its blade positioning. Can anyone share their thoughts on whether I should go for the LN 102 or stick with the LN 60 1/2?

I absolutely love my LN 60 1/2! It’s basically going to be buried with me! It's such a reliable tool.
Honestly, I'd go with the 102 and just work through the discomfort when you need the rabbet plane. It might serve you better overall.
One thing to consider is that the 60 1/2 is a bit easier to drop. I’ve dropped my LN a couple of times in just two days! The LN 102 feels better in hand, but keep in mind it might not remove material as quickly due to its throat design.
In my experience, I prefer my Stanley 50s over the LN versions. It's about the feel and weight—just works better for me, especially when rounding corners with the adjustable mouth.
It really depends on what you prefer! I have both the LN 60 1/2 and the LN 102. The 60 is nice, but I reach for the 102 more often because it just feels better in my hands. I mainly use block planes for fine tasks, and I don't really need that adjustable mouth feature too often.
I'm also a fan of the LN 102! I also have an older Stanley 60 1/2, but I always go for the 102. If I need something for rougher work, I’ll grab my old Stanley 118.
I get that! I usually find myself preferring the Veritas apron plane over the bigger adjustable ones. The 60.5 fits my hand well, but I really appreciate the control of the smaller size.

Same here, it’s classic!
