Do I Need to Sand My Wood Pieces Before Finishing After Storing Them?

Hey folks! At my workplace, we're working on some mahogany pieces for repairs. We build these pieces ourselves, but we send them out for finishing since we lack a proper setup for that. We usually create them in batches, but sometimes they sit in the warehouse for weeks or even months before getting finished. I'm wondering if I should sand them post-machining or if the contractor will need to re-sand them anyway? I'm concerned about dust settling in the pores or humidity causing the grain to raise. What do you guys think?

I think it might be a good idea to check with your contractor to see what they recommend. They might have a specific process. Just keep in mind, if dust settles on the wood or there's a lot of humidity, you might have issues later. So, doing a quick sanding before sending them out might not hurt!

Haha, good point! I should also find out if my boss charges for the sanding, that could save some hassle!
