I'm dealing with some annoying creaks in the floorboards of my bedroom, which are covered by carpet. The house is relatively new (only about 8 years old), so I'm unsure why this is happening. It's just a couple of boards that creak loudly when I step on them, especially when I move my furniture around. I want to fix this without causing too much noise for my family upstairs. Any suggestions on how to stop the boards from creaking, especially since I can't just hammer nails into them through the carpet?

I found a video that talks about fixing creaky floors—it could really help you out. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/3iAseVZZKlY?feature=shared. I didn't think I'd need this either until my floor started squeaking!
You might want to try using some special screws designed for this issue. They can drill through the carpet and tighten the flooring to the subfloor or joists, but they break off beneath the surface so they won't be visible. It might be tricky to find the joist though, so check if you have wood flooring under the carpet or just a subfloor. A squeaky floor repair kit from Amazon could help, too!
That sounds like a useful solution! I’ve seen similar kits online, just need to figure out if my subfloor is wood or something else.
Another tip I've heard is using baby powder around the creaky boards, but that's usually for hardwood floors, not so much carpet. You can also try cornstarch or powder, but again, not sure how to get that under the carpet without pulling it up first.

Thanks for the link! I had no idea videos like this were out there.
