I recently received a quote for replacing 8 windows and a front door, totaling $39,000. The company handling the work does it all in-house without subcontractors, which is something I've never seen before. Since this is my first major window and door replacement, I'm wondering if this price is unreasonable or if it's standard for the quality of work provided. Any insights would be appreciated!

I wonder if the quote reflects that your current openings might not be standard sizes. My house had similar issues where I had to get custom windows because the original were from the 60s and didn't match modern sizes. If you're looking at a manufacturer’s options, maybe there are some standard sizes that could save you money compared to going fully custom.
Yeah, $39k sounds excessive! A typical price for that amount of work should be around $12k to $15k. Make sure to check what kind of materials they're using and maybe get some more estimates to see if that's just the local standard price or if you're being overcharged.
That quote does seem a bit high unless you're going for top-tier materials or custom installations. For just 8 windows and a door, I'd recommend getting at least a couple more quotes to compare prices, even if you like this company. It's always good to have options!
