Hey folks! I'm curious if it's possible to install a whole house water filter and a water softener by myself. Is this a DIY project that I can handle, or is it best left to the pros?

Yeah, you can totally do it yourself if you're okay with some plumbing work. There are tons of helpful YouTube videos that walk you through the process. If your pipes are copper, some plumbing supply stores even rent out tools like ProPress to make the job easier.

It's definitely doable! The challenging part is setting up the loop where the water enters your home—basically, you'll cut the pipe, attach the softener, and then reconnect it. The rest is pretty straightforward: mount the filter, plug in the softener, and connect everything. Just keep in mind you'll want to be near an electrical outlet for the softener too, unless you're comfortable with running new wiring.

Are you sure about the pricing? I doubt a plumber would install everything for just $500 around here. The parts alone can add up quickly!
