Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on some vintage bowling alley chairs that were originally bolted down at the alley. I'd love to use them in my living room, but I'm not keen on drilling into my floor to keep them stable. What are some creative ideas to ensure they don't tip over when someone sits down? (And no, I can't just have two people sit on them at the same time!) Here's a pic of the chairs I picked up: https://imgur.com/a/sR5Jcim

You have a couple of options here! First, you could add a wider base under the existing one. The good part is it’s an easy fix, but keep in mind it might raise the chairs higher than you want. Alternatively, you could detach the chairs from their metal base and give them individual legs. This way, you have control over the height, but it might require more resources and you’ll lose that two-seater style unless you design a bench base.
One simple solution is to build a wooden base that's wider than both chairs. This could give them the stability they need without any floor drilling!
