How can I prevent mold in a windowless bedroom?

Hey everyone! I'm facing a real challenge with my bedroom, which unfortunately has no windows. The only way to access it is through a closed door for privacy since I'm currently taking care of my sick father and moving out isn't an option right now. Ever since I moved in about 8 months ago, I've noticed my asthma getting worse and the temperature in the room fluctuating from hot during the day to chilly at night. Recently, I did a thorough cleaning and found white spots that I suspect may be mold. I tried cleaning them with vinegar and bleach, followed by drying with towels. To make matters worse, I've also noticed that the tile floors are often damp, even without any visible water sources, and the cement walls seem to be sweating. The overall smell in the room resembles that of a damp attic. No matter how much I clean and dry, the dampness persists. What can I do to tackle this issue? Thanks for your help! ?

A dehumidifier is a must for situations like this. You can find quiet, table-top models that do a great job without being too intrusive. They really helped my place when we had similar issues. With the moisture being so high, make sure to regularly empty the water tank, often daily, to keep it effective.

Totally agree! I can't stress enough how much of a difference a good dehumidifier can make. It saved my home from a lot of damage and improved our health.

Using a dehumidifier along with a fan can really help. Keeping the air circulating promotes better drying and lowers humidity levels. Plus, it's important to try and get some fresh air into your room whenever possible, even if it's just for short bursts.

Mold thrives in damp conditions, so remember, the best antidotes are light, heat, and air circulation. Besides a dehumidifier, try to let some air circulate in from another room if possible. Light can also help keep moisture at bay, so maybe check if you can add some brighter lamps too!
