What’s the Best Way to Nail Boards That Are Out of Reach?

I'm trying to nail down some cedar shake siding, but the nails are about two feet out of reach. The scaffolding I have set up isn't tall enough to get the job done. Does anyone have any tips on tools or methods to securely drive in those nails without risking my safety?

You've got a couple of options here! First, I'd recommend looking for a taller ladder or better scaffolding. Safety is key, so avoid any risky stunts. You don’t want to injure yourself just to reach those boards! If you have scaffolding already, check if you can set up a short ladder on the platform.

Good point! I think using a milk crate could work too, but definitely be careful about stability.

Yeah, stability is important! Better safe than sorry.

Consider renting a boom lift if you need more height. It's a much safer way to get those boards nailed in without making a dangerous setup on your own. Plus, you'll have better reach all around!

Boom lifts are great for projects like this! Just make sure you get the operator's safety briefing.

There's also a tool called a 'Pea shooter' that’s about 3 feet long, and it can help drive in nails that are up high. It could make your life easier if you don't want to mess around with ladders or lifts. Adhesives could work too if you can't get up there!

That's a solid idea! I’ll check out the Pea shooter for sure.

Adhesive might be a quick fix if you can press it into place securely!
