I'm trying to set up a pumpkin display with my kids for Halloween, but I'm wondering if I should cut back the pumpkin vines that aren't producing any fruit. I've read that if a vine isn't growing a pumpkin by now, it probably won't in time for Halloween. Should I remove the non-fruitful plants to make room for the ones that are doing well, or is there still a chance for more pumpkins to grow?

Definitely cut back the vines that aren’t producing. I made the same mistake last year and ended up with a last-minute haul of pumpkins just in time for Halloween. This year, I planted mine late too but got lucky with a few. I’ll be sure to time it better next season!
It sounds like you're running out of time. If those non-fruitful vines are taking up space, feel free to cut them back. You might still get a few late pumpkins ready for Thanksgiving, depending on how long your growing season is. For next time, try planting in early May so you have plenty of time for your jack-o'-lanterns to ripen!
