How to Make Your Own Magnetic Knife Rack?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to create a magnetic knife rack since the ones at Ikea get terrible reviews. I'm thinking it can't be too difficult to buy some strong magnets and make my own. I don't need it to be fancy—just functional enough to hold my knives on the fridge. What should I look for in a magnet if I decide to go this DIY route?

Amazon has loads of options when it comes to magnets with high ratings. Just make sure to go for those with good reviews and the right holding capacity for your knives. You won’t be disappointed!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check out those options.

I tried a couple of stainless steel-covered magnetic strips from eBay, and they’re fantastic! They can hold about a dozen knives each and look pretty sleek in the kitchen. Definitely worth considering if you want something that’s both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

I actually use a BBQ tool magnet that’s designed for holding grilling utensils. It’s super strong—mounted it on the side of my fridge, and I have to pull hard to get the knives off! Plus, it fits the color scheme of my kitchen, which is a bonus. That’s a clever idea! I love that it matches your other appliances too.

I made my own magnetic knife rack using a simple drill press. I drilled some holes in a sturdy board, careful not to break through the other side. Then, I glued in neodymium magnets that I picked up on Amazon. They work great since they're packed in tightly and can hold everything securely! Check out how it looks:
