Hey everyone! I'm working on installing bead board wainscoting in my dining room, but I've hit a snag with how to deal with the baseboards where it meets the arch that connects to the living room. The two rooms have no trim around the arch, and I want to keep it that way, but I'm unsure how to finish the baseboards between the two spaces. Normally, the baseboard in the dining room would either end with a return or at a doorway, but in my case, it used to wrap around the arch before. I see a few options: 1) Cut off the end of the baseboard in the living room and leave it bare in the arch; 2) Continue the baseboard up to the return on both sides; or 3) Wrap it all the way around and only run the return to the top of the baseboard. All these options feel a bit off to me, and I can't find examples of how to handle this kind of situation. I'd love to get your advice! Here's an image of the area I'm talking about: [link to image].

It sounds like a tricky situation! One option you might consider is adding some casing to the archway. If you can make the back band of the casing deeper than your baseboard, it'll help everything flow together nicely. You can look at the edge of the doorway in your photo for inspiration. That way, your base can blend into the casing instead of just stopping awkwardly at the arch.

I see what you're saying, but the arch is pretty curved and not straightforward. I'd probably need to custom-fit something, and I'm not confident in my trimming skills to make it look seamless.
