Is It Time to Let Go of Our Landscaping Company?

We have a landscaping company (let's call them Company A) that has been taking care of our neighborhood's common areas for almost two years. Recently, their performance has dropped, so we decided to get quotes from other vendors for a specific job. After reviewing several options, we chose a different company (Company B) that quoted us $2,000 for the job, compared to Company A's $6,000. After Company A learned we hired Company B, they expressed their frustration over losing our contract. To complicate matters, I accidentally sent an email to both companies that wasn't BCC'd properly, which made Company A even more upset about our decision to shop around. We're not under contract with Company A. Should we continue with them, or is it reasonable to move on to a vendor that has proven to provide better value?

Honestly, if Company A isn't doing a good job and is charging you more, you don't owe them anything. From what you've said, Company B does a better job for a fraction of the cost. Plus, two years is enough time to give A feedback if they were slacking off. I say let them go—there's no need to stick with a business that isn't meeting your needs.

It's fair for you to explore other options if you’re not happy with their service. But then again, Company A probably would’ve liked to hear about your issues directly, rather than finding out through a BCC email. Communication is key! Still, if you’ve found a better deal and service quality with Company B, it might be time to make the change.

It sounds like Company A is feeling the loss of a big account, and understandably so—they probably relied on your contract for a good chunk of their income. But it's definitely within your rights to seek out better options. If Company B is providing quality work at a lower price, you should probably go with them. It's all about getting the best service for your money, right?
