How to Keep Your Green Onions Growing After Water Rooting?

Hey everyone! I recently learned from my boyfriend that I can keep green onions growing by placing them in a jar of water, and I tried it out—surprisingly, it worked! Now I've got a new batch because I didn't plant the first ones in time. I'm curious if anyone has tips for transferring these to a pot after they've rooted in water. Will they keep growing in the pot?

Yes! Just plant the green onions with their tips sticking out slightly above the soil, and they'll keep thriving. I started with a dozen green onions in a jar of water last year, and I just trim what I need. They keep growing back, which is awesome!

Absolutely, they can continue to grow even if you keep them in water. A coworker of mine has a few always growing in water right on her kitchen counter. Just make sure they get good light, but avoid direct sunlight! ?

That's cool! Are there other vegetables that can be regrown like that? I'm limited on outdoor gardening options since winter's coming here in Ohio.
