Tips for Creating a Shattered Windshield Prop for a Costume?

Hey everyone! I'm working on a costume where it looks like a person is coming through a windshield. I've got some ideas for making the windshield using either sheet protectors or plastic wrap paper, but I want to make it look shattered. I was thinking about using gray paint or a marker to draw cracks, but I'm looking for more creative suggestions. Would love to hear what you all think! :))

Have you considered using solvents? Some types of plastic will wrinkle or turn cloudy if you brush a solvent on them, which could give you that shattered glass effect. Just make sure to test it on a small piece first!

Thanks for the heads up! I'll give that a shot!

There are decals available that can give the illusion of a shattered windshield. Some have designs like a baseball embedded in the center; you could either buy those or paint similar designs on your prop!

You could try layering resin over clear plastic wrap. Once the resin sets, you can crack it to give it that shattered look. Another option is to use some glass sugar pieces that can mimic cracks—they'll stick on with a bit of water!

I'm definitely going to try the resin idea! Thanks for the tip!

That sounds like a fun approach! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
