Hey everyone! I'm thinking about switching to the DeWalt tool platform. I've mainly used Bosch in the past, but since my old batteries are shot, I feel like it's time for a fresh start. I'm mostly a DIYer, but I've got some renovations to do on a property that requires the portability of cordless tools since it's a bit far from the road. The Flexvolt lineup, especially their table saw and miter saw, seems really appealing to me, and I've gotten an offer for a couple of 12Ah batteries. My main concern is whether those 12Ah packs are just too much for smaller tools like drills and impacts. Are they more suited for the bigger saws, or can they actually be used effectively with smaller devices without becoming unwieldy? I'd love to hear from anyone who's made the switch or used the 12Ah batteries on various tools!

I use the 2Ah Powerstack for most of my impact driving and drilling, and they’re lightweight and efficient. For things like circular saws or grinders, though, you’ll definitely want the bigger batteries like the 12Ah packs! But do keep in mind they do add extra weight!
As a huge DeWalt fan, I can tell you that they have a solid lineup! The big batteries can indeed be heavy on smaller tools, but they’ll get you by until you can invest in some smaller packs. Plus, they’ve made some great tools over the years, so you’ll be in good hands!
Honestly, those 12Ah batteries might be overkill for smaller tools, but they definitely work just fine. They’ll be heavier, but you might end up getting them bundled with the tools, so you’ll have no shortage of batteries!
