I'm working on an assignment for my horticulture class and need some input on common fruits and vegetables that people grow in their gardens. This is my first lesson in horticulture, and I'm not really sure where to start. Any suggestions would be really appreciated, especially if you have experience with gardening!

For beginners, tomatoes and lettuce are fantastic choices! Tomatoes are widely loved and versatile in the kitchen, while lettuce is super easy to grow and great for salads. Just remember, tomatoes are technically fruits, but many folks think of them as veggies in cooking. If you have some space, they can both thrive well in home gardens.
It really depends on where you live! If you're in a warmer climate like the tropical Philippines, you might want to consider planting fruits like melons or tropical fruits alongside local veggies. In the northeast USA, tomatoes and various types of berries, like strawberries and blueberries, are quite common and do great in gardens.
