Should I Let Nasturtiums Run Wild in My Backyard?

I'm thinking about letting nasturtiums take over my backyard. They thrive in my climate here in northern California, and honestly, I'd prefer their vibrant colors over the crabgrass and other weeds that are currently there. However, I'm worried they could get out of control and become an invasive mess. I already have some established plants and shrubs along the edges, but the center is a mess of dying grass and weeds. Should I embrace the nasturtiums or yank them out before they spread?

Absolutely let them be! They bring such a nice vibe to the garden. Plus, if they do get too wild later, you can always prune them back. Sometimes a little chaos in the garden is a good thing!

Yay for nasturtiums! Let them go crazy and see how you like it. They add color and are pretty low-maintenance!

I say go for it! If they start taking over and you get tired of them, you can always trim them back to make space for other plants or even use them in a salad. No waste!

Have you thought about mixing in California poppies? They can get a bit wild too, but they look stunning alongside nasturtiums. Just be ready to trim them back when they get too big!
