My wife has a bunch of indoor plants and uses Miracle-Gro bloom boosting plant food. She recently repotted many of her plants, leaving us with a lot of leftover soil that she doesn't want to throw away. I'm curious if there's a way to reuse this soil in our vegetable and herb beds, even though I've heard it's not usually recommended. Is there a method, like composting, that would make this soil safe for use with vegetables or herbs?

Using bloom boosting soil for veggies isn’t usually recommended, but it really depends on the specific nutrients in the soil. If you just have a bit of Miracle-Gro mixed in, it's probably fine to toss it in your garden. Just keep in mind that some fertilizers might not be great for edible plants. May also want to mix it with some compost to balance things out!

Right! And if you've used a lot of chemical fertilizers before, consider mixing in some organic compost just to offset things.
