How I Dealt with a Fungus Gnat Infestation in My Bedroom

Hey folks! I recently returned home from a month-long vacation to find a serious fungus gnat problem in my bedroom. I ended up throwing away about half of my plants because they were infested. I kept the ones that seemed unaffected and physically separated from the others. The gnats were mostly hanging around the wall, especially along the gap between the crown molding and the floor. To tackle this, I decided to seal that area off with electrical tape, and luckily, I haven't seen any new gnats since. I'm curious though, how effective is this sealing method in the long run? Have any of you tried it? Also, if you have any strategies for coping with the mental effects of this situation—like feeling like bugs are crawling on me even when they're not—that would be great. Thanks in advance!

I totally feel your pain—I’ve dealt with those little pests too! I used diatomaceous earth sprinkled on the surface of the soil, and I found the sticky yellow traps really helpful for catching them. Plus, watering your plants from the bottom can help prevent gnats too. Sealing off the area definitely sounds like a smart move, especially since they're in your bedroom. Good luck with your battle!

Thanks for the tips! I've used a butterwort before, which worked wonders, but this time the infestation's been huge. I'm definitely going to get some sticky traps, and I'm considering a Zevo light if it doesn't get better. What do you think about using sand instead of diatomaceous earth?
