I've recently been doing some trim work and decided to invest in a DWS780 miter saw because my old one was just terrible. I was prepared for a little difficulty, but changing the blade has been a nightmare. I followed the instructions and even checked out some online videos, but there's this stubborn screw that's not mentioned anywhere that seems to be causing a lot of trouble, just like it did with the DWS779 model. The blade was super tight, and I had to remove the entire blade guard and chip deflector just to squeeze in a new CMT blade without bending it. Overall, I'm excited about the saw, but I'm wondering if this is a common issue with new 780s or just my luck?

Sounds like a common issue! I can relate to the struggle with that sneaky screw underneath. I've had to get creative just to get the blade in place. I think a little extra space in the shroud would definitely help.
Honestly, don't stress too much! Just check out some YouTube tutorials—they really break it down and make it seem way easier than it was for you. It’s usually just a matter of seeing the right angle to put the blade in without any obstructions.
It sounds like you're having a rough time! Loosening the two screws might help, but I totally get the frustration. I ended up removing the guard entirely too to make it easier. That chip deflector can be a pain when you're trying to get that blade in.
Yeah, I had the same experience! Removing the guard was the only way I could fit the blade in without forcing it.

For sure! That angle can be impossible to work with if you haven't modified the guard a bit.
